Prunes = diarrhea?

First and foremost, my heartfelt condolensces to million$$baby and her family during this tragic time.  DH & I both have been thinking of them all weekend.

On a much lighter note, Cal had prunes this morning for the first time and LOVED them.  He ate a lot and my worst fear came true - huge prune diarrhea explosion this afternoon (right after a bath, of course).  I know prunes can have this effect on adults if eaten in excess.  What should I do - eliminate prunes from his diet or only feed him a bit at a time, along with something else so he still eats enough that he's satisifed?  We have yet to combine foods, but maybe it's time.

Thanks.

Re: Prunes = diarrhea?

  • I only feed prunes if my little one is constipated...LOL.

    I would mix if you want to give some, just mix with something he has already had.  Or only give it in small amounts

  • Ditto Pamela. I just can't feed her prunes unless I know she needs them for the same reason you listed. And it's never 1 explosion ... it's at least 2 here! LOL!
  • We stopped prunes for that very reason. We always kept a little around incase he got constipated, but we didnt feed them in his regular diet.
