Nuvaring users (a little TMI)

I just got my first PP period on Friday...so I'm suppossed to start Nuvaring today (I've always used BCP before). I heard it was okay to use both the ring and a tampon. Is this true? Did it hurt or feel weird to have 2 things up there, LOL?? Will the ring come out when I take the tampon out? Thank!

It is true that you can use a tampon and nuvaring at the same time.  I have not had to do it myself, so I can't tell you how it feels.

My first PPP, I used pads, though. I was scared to use a tampon.  I use tampons now and it feels fine.

I always took it out to have a period!  I never had one when it was in.  Just a note, make sure you put it back in after your period.  My DS is here because I forgot.  The best thing I ever forgot!

Hey! Britton is getting so big! So handsome too! I've been using tampons for the past 2 days and didn't hurt at all...but then again, I had a c/section!

I used the Nuvaring before (a few years ago when it was still new).  I thought that you get your period when you take the ring out for the week that oyu are supposed to have oyur period.  I am trying to figure out why you would be having your period witht he ring still in.  Could you please enlighten me??  Thanks!

My OB said to insert it on the Sunday of my first period, even if I'm still bleeding. Since I started my period on Friday, I'm obviously still bleeding. Usually when you are on BC, your periods only last a few days (so if you take the ring out on a Sunday, you usually stop bleeding before you need to put the new one in the following Sunday). However, since it's PP, she said my period might last more than 1 week and I can use a tampon with the ring if needed.

With nuvaring it doesn't really matter when you start it, just remember what day you put it in, then take it out 3 weeks from that day. I waited until my period was over before I put it in, because it is more likely to come out with the tampon, then you have to clean it off, put it back in, and it's just a hassel. I would say just to wait until your period is over before you put it in unless you already have. If you have, then go ahead and use the tampon, just be careful not to flush it down the toilet or something when you take your tampon out.
