Miscarriage/Pregnancy Loss

D&C Question

So i got my bfp on thursday and yesterday i think we had a mc. Chemical pregnancy im guessing. Im thinking we were about 3 or 4 weeks 5 at most. Am i going to need a D&C? I see the dr tomorrow but my heads going like a mile a minute right now. Help girls!

Re: D&C Question

  • I was in the same situation in July 2009 and my OB just kept checking my HBG levels for 2 weeks to make sure it came down.  My HBC levels went back down to where they are suppose to be so I did not have to have a D&C, I had what she termed a complete miscarriage, which I believe is easier on the body then a D&C.  I hope this helps.

  • I'm so sorry to hear that you are going through this. If your body is miscarrying on it's own, then you most likely won't need a D&C. The doctor will most likely want to confirm the miscarriage by one of two ways:

    1. Check your hcg levels. These numbers should be going down if you are miscarrying. If you haven't had these levels checked before, then she may take them tomorrow and then again a couple of days later to make sure the levels are dropping. It just requires taking blood.

    2. If you go in to see her tomorrow, she may do an internal ultrasound. She may not, if she's going to check your hcg or she may do both.

HCG levels are really the only way to detemine if you are having a miscarriage. Good luck!. I know the wait until tomorrow will be difficult, but try to stay calm and take care of yourself.

  • I dont think you'll need a D&C.  They usually do that for women with missed m/c, but sounds liek your body has already started a natural m/c.  Im so sorry for your loss.  (HUGS))

  • I had a D&C last year and I really did not like the whole experience at all. I think it can mess with you a little mentaly and I have heard there can be complications afterwards. I am awaiting a MC right now, and I was in my 7th week when I found out, and I am set on doing it naturally.?

Hope everything works out for you! And I am sure you will make the right choice on what feels right for you, and what you know you can handle.

    Sorry for your loss. ?
