Opinion on boy names...

Tistan James

Tannen James 

We found out we are having a boy and we have both always loved the name Tristan. I first heard it as Brad Pitt's character in Legends of the Fall. My friend said it sounds girly and my boss said it is a fine name if you want your son to be gay. I know, that is so wrong on many levels to say. The middle name will be James which is a family name. I want a "T" name so he can have TJ as a nickname. Tannen is German for Evergreen which will be appropriate if he is born around Christmas. Thoughts?

You meant Tristan instead of Tistan right? Ha, I hope so. I like Tristan James. I don't really care for Tannen.

I really like Tristan--nice name and not overly used.

I really dislike Tannen--reminds me of Tanner or wine.....

I do think Tristin sounds like a girl name. Probably because it rhymes with kristin.

I do not like Tannen atall.

I definitely like Tristan better than Tannen. Tannen seems too made up to me. I don't think Tristan sounds girly but it's also not super masculine in my opinion.

I can see how people think Tristan sounds feminine. It's NMS but I don't hate it. Tannen is okay but too many Ns - sounds kinda funny.

I'd go for Tristan before Tannen. It does have that Christmas song O'tannenbaum connection for me. Do you like the name Tanner? Or something ending in N - Tavin?

I have never thought of Tristan as a girl's name.EVER.  I worked with a Tristan and one of my BFF son's name is Tristan.  I also have no idea how someone equates being gay with having a certain name.

Sorry, but I don't like either. Tristan sounds like a girls name to me because of Tristan and Ryan from the Bachelorette. Tannen sounds made up. I do like James, but I hate initial names.
