1st Trimester

Beach at 10 weeks pregnant

I'm going to the beach for the weekend when I'll be about 10 weeks pregnant and trying to figure out the bathing suit situation.  I'm already totally bloated and my stomach is huge. :(  All I have are bikinis and it seems like a waste of money to buy a one-piece bathing suit that I'll only wear once (since it would be bigger than my normal size).  Any suggestions?

  • Just wear what you have... embrace the bloat!

  • I was in the same situation at 10-11 weeks, so I went to Macy's and hit their sales racks - all of their suits were 50% off.  I found a tankini for $40 that was pretty cute.  It covered my bloat/stomach and there was room to spare.  I wore it almost daily (went cruising) and got no comments from anyone - so either they were too scared to ask or didn't notice.. not sure.  Either way, it was comfortable and looked fine.  I can still wear it - hopefully for another 3-4 weeks atleast.  I figure I can use it again next spring/summer after the LO is born (we live in Florida) as it will surely take time to get back to pre-pregnancy weight/shape.

  • Grab some men's wifebeater style tank tops and just wear it over the bikini top if you need it.
  • This summer, I have embraced the fact that, despite any body issues I might have, there are people in worse shape than me baring more than me.  So, I have been wearing my bikini, bloat and all, and not even sucking it in (much).  Wink

  • I went for the always classy 't shirt over bathing suit'. Whatever works, ya know!

  • i would stick with your bikinis. the bloat is only obvious to you and it might be the last time you get to wear one! :) definitely remember sunscreen, though because uv rays break down folic acid and it is critical those levels be where they need to be in the first trimester.

    have fun!

  • Wear what you have and you will burn much easier so lather up!
  • Yeah - I am 11 weeks and couldn't avoid a bathing suit situation last weekend.  I just embraced it - everyone I was around knew.  Usually when I'm in a 2 piece a suck my stomach in a bit - and this time I didn't - it was sort of liberating.
  • We will be at the family with my side of the family when I'm 12-13 weeks.  I'm a little concerned, but I plan to just make due with what I have.
