I have listed on Ebay my girls nursery bedding and I just had a request.
It was from someone who claims to have just got a baby via adoption and it was short notice. She asked me if I would sell the whole thing to her for about $9 over the opening bid price. The auction ends tomorrow and there are other people who are watching the auction who can and most likely will bid on it.
So, how should I tell this person I don't want to do it because it seems like A) someone is trying to pull the heart strings to get something for virtually nothing, it is a rather low offer that she made, and C) it seems wrong to do that to the other potential buyers.
Even if I were to take her offer, it wouldn't ship out until Monday at the earliest so why offer to buy it now unless they just don't want to pay much for it or go through the last minute bidding war?
Re: How should I respond to this. I may delete in a few minutes
I wouldnt. Its not fair to the other bidders or you. If she needs something that bad she can go to a store and buy it. Just because she has the baby now doesnt mean she has to have the bedding right now. She can wait til the auction is over and try to be the highest bidder.
Thanks everyone!
I don't feel bad for her. I honestly believe she is trying to scam me. It wouldn't be the first time that a potential buyer has done so.
I just told her that I follow the rules of Ebay and that it wouldn't be fair to the other watchers/bidders. I did wish her luck and congrats.
ETA: I went back and looked and the offer she gave me included how much she would pay for shipping too. It would have been less than the opening bid! SCAMMER!
Exactly this.
This is a perfect response.
