I have been using BM to mix the rice cereal for DS, but I am getting a little discouraged that the 5oz I pump every day is being used for that instead for building up a freezer stash for when we have to leave him.(We have a wedding Labor Day weekend and will be gone all day and night.) DS has 2Tbsp of cereal with about 2.5oz of BM, are there any suggestions rather then pump more - because I have tried and get maybe 0.5oz in total after my first pump of that day (5oz -1side)
Re: Question about Rice cereal when BF
Either use formula or water to mix the cereal. My dd would never take food that had bm mixed in with it so I always used water. You could also make the cereal thicker and use less bm with it when mixing.
Every baby is different, but we're not doing cereal yet. (we did 3 times out of desperation for sleep, but it didn't make a difference.) Lots of pedis give the go ahead at 4 months, but like the PP said, it's not even necessary at that point. If you're comfortable with it you could hold off and work on your stash.

I always mixed it with water, DS did not like the cereal mixed with bm. heck, he didn't really like it at all, and we did cereal for maybe a week total before we started mixing it with fruit.
