Bassinet or Co-Sleeper?

Hi! We are expecting twin girls and are planning to keep them in our room for the first few months since I'll be breastfeeding. I'm looking for ideas on where the girls can sleep---any bassinets or co-sleeper recommendations? Is it ideal to keep them in one? I need help!

Thanks in advance!

Re: Bassinet or Co-Sleeper?

  • If you're planning on them sleeping in the same one, I suggest a co-sleeper.  I think a lot of girls here used the Arms Reach (not the mini, but the full size).  They'll likely outgrow a standard bassinet within a month or two if they sleep together.

Ours stayed in our room for the first month while I was still recovering from my c-section.  We just used a PNP and they both slept in the bassinet part together.  They were too big to share one (the bassinet part anyway) by about 6-7 weeks old, but they were in their room in a crib by that point so it really didn't matter.

  • The Arm's Reach Original co-sleeper is a good choice for twins because it goes up to 40 lbs and is a bit larger than most bassinets. We had that (though we quickly discovered we couldn't get any sleep in the same room as our boys back then so we moved them to their crib fairly early.)

  • We bought the arms reach co-sleeper for them to sleep in our room for a while.
  • We used our regular Graco PNP with the basinette portion for 12 weeks.
  • We are going with two bassinets. One is the family heirloom and the other my DH's co-worker found brand new at an estate sale. Our friend's have a co-sleeper but I am afraid our #1 baby - the cat - will want to use that.

     Ditto.
