Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Question about teething...

Last night we noticed C's first tooth.  We could feel the sharpness and just barely see it.  He just had shots on Monday so I thought his crankiness and trouble sleeping was contributed to those.  But now I think it was a combo of teething & shots.  Today he was great!  Then this evening was cranky.

How long are they typically uncomfortable with teething once you can feel the tooth?  How long until the tooth is in all way?

  • we could feel the sharpness of the tooth on Friday and had a tooth by Monday.  Then we had tooth # 2 on Sunday.  So he was crabby for a good week

  • Good question!  LO's first tooth poked through today, how long until it's "in"?  She's doing fine though in the meantime.  Thank goodness, we were tortured with a colic-y baby until she was nearly 3 months old, here's hoping this goes without too much trauma!

  • I don't know what's typical, but for DD it was only a matter of a day or so that she still was uncomfortable after the tooth actually poked through.

  • i think its different for everyone.  Ally hasn't been really cranky with her teeth popping through actually, and she's been sleeping fine still ironically enough.  When she does the the 'crankies' its usually until the tooth has fully poked through the gums (not necessarily fully grown in).

with her bottom 2 teeth, she drooled SO bad, and she seemed happier almost the same time the drooling was lessened as well.
