I like them equally. I think Thirties are thinner, but Bummis are still soft (just stiffer). FYI, the newborn Bummis are smaller than the XS Thirsties. We preferred the bummis when DD was born because they fit better. But she outgrew them pretty quickly (~9 lb). The XS thirties were large on her when she was born, but worked and fit her to ~12 lb. The small Bummis and Thirties are the same size.

They fit better, are softer and the velcro is less hard on the edges.

My thoughts (FWIW- since I haven't even had DD yet but have been researching CD extensively
-I heard Bummi's are great for smaller NB's because they are more trim
-Other than that, my opinion is the Thirsties look to be better quality after time and they seem to run $2-3 cheaper per cover.
-Also, I HATE that design on the Bummi's. Call it superficial if you want, but I think Thisties are much cuter
