s/o buying awkward things (Poll)

Per a post below, it got me thinking -- what are some things that you feel awkward to purchase??

* Monistat

* Pregnancy Tests (b/c I didn't want anyone to know my business until I knew for sure!)

* Chewing Tobacco for DH (especially b/c I'm pregnant and I don't want ppl to think I do it)

Re: s/o buying awkward things (Poll)

  • pregnancy tests and condoms. LMAO
    I like privacy. A lot.

  • Someone else's husband chews.  lol   The only way I will buy that stuff for my DH is if he promises me a back rub in exchange.  And I always make a point of saying "It's not for me" when I pay for it.

Besides the whole lingerie thing, I feel awkward buying pregnancy tests - only because I have small children with me and I feel like people are judging me for having too many kids so close in age.

I had to buy foot fungus cream for a bad diaper rash once and it made me feel embarassed.

  • Pregnancy tests, maxi pads
    Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker

  • When I was a teenager I was always pretty horrified when I had to buy pads or tampons.  Of course the person at the cash register was always a teenage boy.

But I have to say - I have bought some awkward things & haven't been embarrassed in years.

  • -Condoms

    -Pg tests

-When I was 8 mos. pg, DH had his 10 yr. college reunion, and we had a huuuuuge party at our house.  Late night, when I was the only sober one, I got to go to the mini-mart to buy 6 packs of cigarettes (I've never smoked a cig in my life!)...fun stuff.

ETA: My husband chews as well.  Gross.  I refuse to buy that for him.

I also got 'caught' by one of my students (when I taught 6th grade and wasn't yet married) buying DH boxers.  That was kinda awkward!!

  • I don't know why sex and pregnancy is so taboo (it's not really, but just in my head I think people look at me weird when I'm buying pregnancy tests and the like...).  I'm just weird, I think! :)

  • -Ditto the pg test

-Cigs for the hubby, I refused to buy them when I was pg or when ds is with me.  (And mini AW-dh has not had a cig since Sat. night, hope this time he quits for good!)

-Alcohol if I have ds with me, I don't know why but this makes me feel like a bad mommy.

  • The other day I had to buy douche --- in massive quantities.  Not for me, for my dog.  He was sprayed by a skunk and my MIL swears by douche for getting rid of the stench.  At least that explains why she has about 25 boxes in her basement.  When I first saw them, I thought she didn't get the memo that douche is bad and I sure as heck wasn't going to be the one to fill her in.
  • Tampons bc everyone knows you're on af.

Condoms and preg tests bc then everyone knows your business.

I always hated buying any alcohol while I was preg bc I felt I was being judged even tho I would hope ppl would know it was not for me. '

  • - pregnancy test (only b/c I didn't want someone I knew to see me.

    - condoms - DH and I always fight over who has to get them

    - for work I have to go and get 40 gift cards at a time. I fell wierd carrying so many to the front desk.

LOL. You should have bought a six pack of beer just for fun.

  • I had to buy a pregnancy test a few months ago, and I got the rudest looks from people at Walgreen's. People should seriously mind their own business when they're shopping.

My ex boyfriend spread a rumor about me being pregnant when his friend saw me buying a pregnancy test for my friend a few years ago. Give me a break, seriously.

When I worked at CVS during high school, this used to perplex me and my co-workers to no end.   Now, I understand it all too well!

  • When I had to take DS with me to buy hard liquor.  I thought I would be kicked out for sure!!
