Baby Names

question about spelling..

our number one girl's name is after a song by our favorite band.  the name is Molly.  the spelling of the name in the song is Molly, but i really love the spelling Mollie.  since we fell in love with the name through the song, should we stick with the 'Molly' spelling??

Re: question about spelling..

  • I think that you should go with your preferred spelling, since few will know about the connection to the song.  After all, you can still sing the song with your baby's name, right?Smile

  • I think this is a cute name! In my opinion Mollie is fine. Might get mispelled sometimes, but it's not all that uncommon of a spelling. My husband deals with this often since he's a Bryan and lots of people spell it Brian. Oh well.
  • I much prefer Molly.?
  • I prefer Molly, but I think you should use the spelling you prefer- regardless of the spelling in the song.
  • I prefer Molly, but as long as you don't spell it Mhoylly or something equally ridiculous, you should be fine

  • I think you should spell it how you want, regardless of the song.  Most people probably won't know the connection without you telling them anyway.

  • whichever spelling you like, regardless of how the song is spelt
