Baby Names

shhh its a secret

well we have kept our daughters name a secret to family and friends but i would like to know what everyone else thinks of it

Allesyn Elizabeth

the Al comes from hubbies grandpa and Les comes from my dad who passed away 6 years ago

Re: shhh its a secret

  • Honestly at first I was confused by the first name and had to sound it out.  But given that has meaning for you I understand the unusual spelling.

  • That's nice and all but the spelling is really bad.  Can you just do Alison/Allison for Al and come up with a middle name with "les" in it for you dad?

  • I love the name Allison, but that spelling is bad bad, even if it does have a family connection. Sorry.

  • It's a nice idea, but the name would look much better if spelled traditionally.  Allison Leslie would work very well to honor both fathers.
  • Love the name, hate the spelling.?
  • Terrible, sorry. People will think you're illiterate.
  • What about Alessia?
  • I agree with pp's, the spelling is awful. Even if your trying to honor someone, it will be a huge burden on your child.

Allison is the ONLY way to spell Allison without it looking silly

  • I also think that Allison Leslie would be a great choice. The spelling you have chosen is awful.
  • please reconsider that spelling. you're dooming your daughter to a lifetime of people giving her the side eye. and yourself to a lifetime of people thinking you can't spell. it's awful.

  • ditto everyone else the spelling is terrible no matter what the reason.
  • I so badly want to like the name because of the sentiment behind it. But I don't, the spelling is awful.

I would keep it a secret if you are going to use it, because I can guarantee you will not get a good response from family and friends before the baby is born.

    ... or Alessandra?

  • I too like the name and I think the meaning behind it is very heartwarming...

  • Alessia sounds like a great suggestion to honor both people and it's just as pretty as Allison.

  • Alessia, Alessandra and Allison Leslie are all very nice- really dislike spelling Allison differently
  • Nice sentiment, spelling is painful. Seriously.

I usually don't say negative comments and try to be objective, but this is really stretching it.

  • I do like the family aspect, and that makes it okay for me, unlike other younique spellings.

    But Allessandra is better.

  • I feel like (in my honest opinion here) that while it's nice to honor someone, I would only use their name.  I think you could do the normal spelling of Alison and then Leslie as a MN.

    Just my thoughts.

    I totally agree.
