getting really nervous

I go tomorrow for my first ultasound and I'm really getting scared. I just think it is very odd that they called my yesterday and want me to come in tomorrow. My 1st appointment is not until sept.9th they are just doing an ultrasound no bloodwork or anything else. They said nothing was wrong over the phone but It just seems so strange. I have been calm about this all day but now I'm getting really nervous! thank goodness i go in at 8:45 tomorrow so I dont have to sit and wait all day,but now today is dragging.

  • no because they said it is only for an ultrasound I asked if they were doing my blood work and everythjing else they would do at my 1st OB appointment so i could get my mom to keep Rylee and they said this is just for an ultrasound and i will have my 1st. appointment as planned on the 9th. It just all seems very strange to me like they dont want to say anything yo me over the phone.

  • Hi, I'm just lurking over here from 12-24, but when I was pregnant with DD they had me go for an ultrasound at 6 weeks, even though my first appointment wasn't until 8 or 9 weeks.  I'm not sure why they had me go, and I got the feeling it wasn't routine because the ultrasound techs were asking why we were there for the ultrasound, but everything was just fine and we saw the heartbeat and everything.  So good luck, hopefully it's nothing to be nervous over!

  • I'm confused as to why they would even have called you. Have you had trouble in the past, have they done any bloodwork, did you call with a concern?

Seems really strange for them to just call you out of the blue & want to do an ultrasound, if all you did was call & make an appt.

My progesterone levls are high so far that is all the blood work they did when i went in for something unrelated. that is all that i can think of as to why they would want me in.

Oh, ok, that makes sense then. I didn't know the back story.

  • The Dr might want your ultrasound before you come in so he knows how your baby is growing ahead of time. I have heard of it once or twice...

  • with progesterone levels they usually wont tell you anything until after the U/S... because like I said before what it means varies a lot... it could just be your body produces extra progesterone (which is what causes PMS symptoms for women) and it could be as serious as a molar pregnancy... there isn't a few things to choose from so they really can't say... also if you've ever had a miscarriage your following pregnancies will have high progesterone in order to protect the baby... good luck!
