I work from home & when the new baby came I had to move my office out of her room to the basement. I don't really love being in the basement but since I'm here I want to make it work by making a cool playroom for the girls to keep them busy. I have 1/2 of basement I can dedicate to my desk & for their stuff.
We have a walk-in kitchen, kangaroo climber, a table & chair set, various small toys like little people for Taylor and Ella has her jumperoo, playgym, & bouncer down here.
I'm thinking of attaching a swing to the ceiling & getting a playmat for underneath and/or maybe getting a playhut w/tunnel kinda thing. Any ideas, tips, or recs? I'm lost as where to begin and need inspiration!!
Also, does anyone have any recs for playmats? TIA!
Re: playroom ideas needed please
Here's a link to the thread of our playroom

We got our playmat at Walmart - they have lots of other colors. IKEA is great for playroom stuff. They have lots of accessories. They also have swings you can hang from the ceiling, slides, tunnels, etc.
Oooo! Thanks for some inspiration. One of the rooms were doing is blue too so I might go get that mat. I like how all the toys are viewable.
Ikea is pretty far from were I live but I might have to plan a trip there. I'm going to show my DH your playroom so he can see what I want! Thanks!!
This is not DD's playroom but I took this idea ...
It's a curtain rod from IKEA and you buy clips with it and use it to display their artwork. You can make it as long or short as you want (I made the one in DD's playroom 3 feet)
This is DD's playroom..
I got the stuffed animal chain from ebay and the wall words from Hobby Lobby (they peel off when you no longer want them)
Oh, and her playroom is much more cherry than it looks. The color is actually more like a sky blue (I think it looks grey in pics). Although my husband says it looks like a boys room...
Our playroom is a combo playspace/office space - I haven't taken pics, otherwise I'd post them. We truly spend most of our time in here now. The best thing I can suggest is a fun bean bag (ours is PBK and it's AWESOME), lots of floor pillows (for impromptu movie nights) and cubbie storage. We looked at Ikea (GREAT STUFF!), but it's 4 hours from where we live. I ended up finding a great 9 cube unit with canvas storage cubes at Target - it's perfect - by Closetmaid. Our playroom is carpeted, so we don't have a need for the mat anymore (though we did use a similar mat when DS was a baby). In the center of the room is DS's Melissa & Doug play table but the best thing we've done in this room is the storage: We hung a clear, over door shoe rack behind the door - it's perfect for DS's train set stuff and smaller toys (like Little People). We also have a place to displace DS's artwork...I need to post pics...
Have fun - decorating our playroom was SO MUCH FUN!!!!
