I'm heading down to a baseball game next Thursday with some of the managers I work with. We are all female and they know I pump. I will need to pump just once since we will be gone for 12 hours. However, when we got these tickets a few months back, one of the managers asked if I will still be pumping when we go. Then again, a month ago, we were talking about it and she said "You won't be pumping still when we go will you?" Each time I responded with, I'm not sure, I could be depending on what happens between then and now. I didn't know if Sam would self wean or not. And a totally inappropriate question on her part.
We are all driving together. What do you think will be best, tell them when we get there to give me 10 minutes and I'll meet them at the entrance? This is just going to suck. I don't even want to go anymore because I feel like I'm going to be inconveniencing them when I have to pump because of the questions from the one manager.
My only saving grace at this point is that my sister is being induced on Tuesday with her first baby. I already told them that if she has the baby late Wed that I won't be going, I'll be going to visit her instead on Thursday. I highly doubt she will deliver on Wed though, I'm sure it will be Tuesday.
Re: Work function next week and needing to pump
I agree.
Pump in the car before heading in and meet them at your seats 'ready for fun!'.
I had to pump 2X at an offsite meeting. Not a big deal as long as I didn't make it one.
Another tip for car pumping-- bring your hooter hider or a blanket or something to cover up.
Good thing they are all women too. I think it would be more awkward with guys!
This. My first day back to work was an all day offsite where there were no private rooms. I just went to my car at lunch and then again during the afternoon break and no one even knew. I agree that if you act nonchalant about it, no one will think twice. I always find that when I don't things are that big of a deal other people step in line. Good luck and have fun!!!
Do what the PP said. It shouldn't be awkward, it should be fine. And i have had to do this, and i work with ALL men. If I can do it, so can you! Have fun!
