Family names are great...but maybe they're better as middle names when they're unusual.  I have a friend whose first name is Natalie and her middle name is Carroll (family name), not Carol.  I think it would've been confusing to give her the first name of Carroll with that spelling.

To be fair, I'm glad you were thinking Carrah to honor your family, not to just try to find the most ridiculous spelling possible for a beautiful name
