does OJ before big u/s really work?

I have read all over to drink OJ or something with sugar before the big anatomy scan (which we have today). In your experience, does that really work to get the babe moving?

Ohhh Good luck with your big u/s! It is an amazing experience. I drank water. They were able to see the "goods" even though we didn't find out.

I did that - she was wiggly.  Don't know if it was because of the OJ, or she was just in a wiggly mood.

I drank a glass of OJ and a cup of coffee before my big u/s and my LO wouldn't budge for nothing. She flailed her arms and legs some but refused to budge from her upside down ball.

didn't work for me with DD....we actually had to have 3 seperate U/S between 16-24 weeks so they could see all the things they wanted to because she wouldn't co-operate.

it could backfire on you.  baby could move so much that the tech won't be able to measure anything.  i'd just drink your water and see how it goes.  maybe bring some OJ w/ you if baby won't budge.  DD wouldn't move for anything so we rescheduled for 4 wks later.

Thanks everyone! I ended up doing the OJ (and, ahem, some Swedish fish). I think it went well! Baby was facing downward for most of it, but then they had me get up and go to the bathroom and she flipped over. I'm pretty sure they got everything they needed, but they have the perinatologist look over everything just to be sure.

It was fun to see her again tonight! She was *not* shy about showing the goods (though we knew she was a girl from the amnio) and was playing with her feet and toes. H got tons of little videos on our camera. All in all it was great!!
