You know those poor mums who you see at the shopping centers with their toddlers having a tantrum spread out on the floor and screaming bloody murder while they wrestled with the kid...and looking all embarassed...well that was me today!! Yep there I was pleading with my DD to stop screaming at the top of her lungs because she wanted to go down the escalators and we were not going. Sat down at her level looked her in the face and told her to stop. She ofcourse proceeded to scream louder!! When she was finally done she got up, smiled sweetly while calling out and waving "HI" to all the passer by's. Kids-- you gotta love them!
Re: I was THAT mum yesterday!
Thanks for your sympathy
I meant yesterday in my post.
My DD is very inquisitive and umm stubborn at the moment. Yesterday she found my lip gloss and proceeded to dig holes into it and then smear it all over her face! At least it was Burts Bee's wax..lol!
Too funny! I have been there recently. We went to the beach with my family and my son was getting really restless at the dinner table so I took him outside to run around. There is a fountain outside so I let him stick his hands in a little bit since I knew we'd wash up before dinner anyways. So he looks at me and smiles, cups his hand and takes a big slurp ouf of the fountain. We were in the big area where a lot of people walk around - I'm sure they thought I was mother of the year. So embarrassing.
Ahh yes...dont you just love how they smile right at you before doing something they know they should not be doing?
I CAN definitely wait for that stage. Sounds like you handled it well.
What works for us- is I ignore her completely. I don't act like it bothers me one bit. I just pick her up and we keep moving. She stops after awhile. The whole time I get control your child looks.
