Sent in $18 for a stupid 'build a bear' to daycare

DH and I laughed at ourselves for getting suckered into this one...

our daycare held a "build a bear" event that you could opt into - send in $18 and your child gets to build an animal at school, etc....

we did it, b/c we didn't want him to be the only kid NOT doing it.... even though after we sent in the money we realized probably a lot of parents didn't do it either.

i hate stuffed animals in our house... and now i have a cute $18 stuffed monkey. Thankfully Griffin seems to reallly like it- he's snuggling with it in his crib right now.

oh, the things we do for our kids!

  • $18 is a deal for those things.  My friends little boy begged to go when she was in town and she spent over $50 for his.  He did adore it though and spent the next three days treating it like his best friend.

  • This has nothing to do with your post, but holy crap, your kids are CUTE!
  • If it's $18 on a two-year old, just imagine the kind of money we'll be tossing away when are kids are in grade school!
  • That wouldn't bother me so much, though I probably wouldn't want to do it either!  But I really get annoyed with "fund raisers"  I already pay $$$$ for her to be there-- no we're not going to go door to door selling books!
  • i talked to another mom from DS's class- and she said there were only a couple kids who did NOT do it- so i'm glad that I sent the money in... apparently they all had a lot of fun and then slept with their animals at nap time.

i also have heard how expensive the actual store is- yikes!  But i'm sure we'll end up there someday anyway, lol.

i don't mind the fundraisers my DC does b/c they either go towards their foundation which helps needy families in the area- or they go towards buying a nice lunch for the teachers during appreciation week.... i only sell to my parents, sister and myself, though.

  • I would open the pocket books too on this one... just so she wasn't the only one who didn't do it.    I could see her pitching a fit if everyone else got to do something she didn't like everyone else.
  • When dd goes into the 3 year old room, they have a trip to build a bear. At least your son likes the monkey haha Also, cute babies!
