Pregnant after a Loss

Nosebleeds?

I totally forgot to ask my dr. about this today.  Does pregnancy sometimes cause nosebleeds?  I got 2 in the past 3 days and haven't had one in years.  The first one was when DH and I were having a massively large argument, so I thought it was just because I was so upset.  But then the 2nd one came the other day when I was just sitting quietly.  So do you think this has anything to do with pregnancy or is it just a random thing?

Re: Nosebleeds?

  • I have read that nose bleeds can be a side effect when you are pregnant... I know I get them when I go from "snotty" ... like if I have been crying or something... to dry... OR when I have been eating spicy food... they have been coming more frequently since my BFP.  GL.

  • Funny that you should ask! I have had blood in my nose this week also. It's not pouring out but when I look in the mirror, I can see a little dried blood in there sometimes. I see my midwife this week and am going to ask but I assume it's normal.

  • Yes it's normal. I actually asked my dr about this a few weeks ago because I got two really bad ones-they were bleeding pretty bad for a good 20 minutes and it really scared me. I still get them occasionally but they haven't been quite as bad.
  • I haven't had a full-on nosebleed, but I have had some bloody sinus stuff. I've had horrible sinus issues this summer and pretty much every time I blow my nose there is some trace of blood. I have read, though, that bloody noses are normal during pregnancy for whatever reason!!

  • I have had 2 real nosebleeds, but my nose stays bloody now.  I always need to blow my nose and when I do it is mostly blood.  I really hope this goes away after pregnancy.
  • I got them a lot anyway, but worse since I've been pregnant.  If I'm ever really upset and crying hard I can gush.  It's all about the increased blood flow when you're pregnant.

this.  and what kathy said too.  if i cry (which i do alot now) i instantly get a drippy bloody nose.  i haven't had any horrendous ones, but my nose is always bloody and i have to blow it ALL the time.  i asked me dr though and she said it is totallly normal.  it freaked me out at first, but now i'm completely used to it.  but it better go away once my lo is here!!

  • Yep! I've had 4. I'll just be sitting there and it starts running. It happened at work one day. Sucks but normal. There is extra blood flow in your body so it is annoying but a symptom of pg. That's what my Dr told me.

  • I have heard that pg symtom may be a bloody nose.  I have noticed that I have had and increased amout of nose dicharge:-)  with a  blood, but not a gushing  bloody nose.  I think mine is sinus related.  But I have heard that is due to the placenta.  It releases something to cause all of these crazy symptoms.  So maybe your bloody nose is due to a very healthy placenta :-)
