What's the rule about bumping their head?

I always remember my mom not letting my little sisters go to sleep right after hitting their heads.  I think she said it had something to do with them not waking up?!  How do you know if they hit their head hard enough to not let them go to sleep?  How long after CAN they go to sleep? And is this even true?

Re: What's the rule about bumping their head?

  • The not letting them go to sleep is because if they have a concussion.  DS fell out of his crib when he was a baby, and when I called his pedi's office, they said that if he was acting funny and lethargic to bring him in.  They also told me that once he was asleep, to tickle his toes a little (I think they said about every hour or so) so that he would stir to make sure he was not concussed.

    Nothing today! lol

She is always hitting her head on the tile because she slips on her blankey that she carries around all the time.  I just always hear my mom in head, "Don't let her go to sleep!" Ha!

yep, that makes me crazy when he drags around a blankie b/c he trips himself up.

  • when c fell down the stairs the pedi told us it was ok if she slept. you're making things worse keeping them a wake and tired. if they sleep longer than a normal nap, vomit, dilated pupils, act different, more lethargic then be concerned.
