Poll: What has been your MOST IRRATIONAL PURCHASE?

for DC? and if there was a reason what was the reason......(i have zero idea how to do a clicky poll)

Mine: after watching the kyledavidmiller.org video and reading his mothers story and crying my eyes out like a baby i purchased a 300.00 carseat (Britax Regent) for Carson, yes i know, flame away.  I wanted him in a 5 point harness for as long as possible and this seat holds up to 85lbs.  a complete and total irrational - emotional purchase to say the least.  if i would have been patient and did some research i could have found many other safe seats that hold up to 65lbs plus for much less.  i went off the deep end after watching those videos on the website.

so spill it........what was yours?

  • This ride on dinosaur I saw at an upscale store. I did buy it for a lower price from amazon but DS has never rode it. I got it for him last year for Christmas...I blew $100.  DH still talks about it.

  • Crib bedding set. I spent 500 on the set, just cause it was "cute". A total waste.

  • It's not a lot of money, but M has probably 50 pairs of shoes in her closet!  She always has at least 7 that fit her at any time.  I just can't help myself when I see adorable little sandles!
  • Ditto the PP on shoes.  L has had over 200 pairs since birth.  I am organizing her shoes for school and she has over 20 pairs that fit.  Even if I had only paid $10 a pair that is over $2,000.  Hopefully #3 is a girl and can wear them too.

  • The Rose Petal Cottage set and some accessories for it.  It was on super sale -- I probably spent all of $50 for the cottage and accessories but I have yet to give it to her and I bought it almost 2 years ago.  It just keeps getting bumped by other stuff I get instead and that seems more age appropriate.  At the rate I'm going, she won't see the darn thing until her 3rd birthday!

  • For DD's first christmas, I spent $88 on a dress from Janie and Jack.  She only wore it twice for a total for 4 hours.

  • I don't think buying a carseat you believe is the safest is irrational.  I would have spent a lot more than $300 if it meant ds was safe.  I don't think you can put a price on that- even if it means keeping him in a carseat at 85 pounds!  He may be embarrassed by it if his friends see him, but he'll be safe!!!

My irrational purchase is a gift I asked for so technically I didn't spend the money but the person spent the money on it because I wanted it.   It's the Radio Flyer fancy red wagon.  I live in NYC in an apartment.  It's never been outside because there is no way for me to take it to the park other than to walk NYC streets with ds in it- and it's not safe for that.  So it sits inside and holds ds's toys- a total waste of money and it takes up a lot of space!
