running with stroller?

I have the Maxi Cosi Foray stroller and I want to start running again... but I dont think I can run with this stroller, right? I need a "running" stroller??

Do they make running strollers that will hold the infant car seat?

Re: running with stroller?

  • I have, and love, a bob revolution. It has a car seat adapter that can be purchased separately.

  • Regardless of the type of stroller you use, you're not supposed to run/jog with baby until around 6 months.  Their neck muscles aren't strong enough to take all the jarring.

When you get to that point, I suggest a jogging stroller, especially if you'll be running off road.

    This.

And I don't know if your stroller is anything like my Graco...but my feet always manage to get caught on the basket at the bottom.

  • Yes, you need a jogging stroller and yes, they make them to hold an infant seat.  But you have to be careful what you get and make sure it is compatible.

I highly recommend the BOB Revolution stroller.  It is beastly expensive, but worth every penny.  I'm not kidding.  The thing is awesome.  You can buy an infant seat attachment for it, but I didn't.  We didn't have a carseat that was compatible.  But you can jog on smooth streets (no off-roading/trail running) at 8 weeks if you put the BOB stroller back in the reclined position.  So I just waited til DS was 8 weeks and then started jogging with it.  We put a little extra cushion in it at first, but now he doesn't need it at all.

    I love my BOB!

  • After reading the other posts, I need to add:

Ask your pedi.  Mine gave me permission to run with DS at 8 weeks.  We haven't had a single problem.  But check with your pedi just to be sure.  Our pedi said that all the strollers tell you to wait til your baby is 6 or more months old.  BUT those instructions are written by lawyers who don't want to get sued when someone puts their teeny tiny preemie with health problems in the stroller at too young of an age.

  • As far as Jogging strollers go you should check out the Baby Jogger. I don't have a "jogging" one but my friend dose & she loves it.
  • I also have the BOB revolution with the infant seat attachment. I run with it. DD is in the infant seat and I run on smooth surfaces. I don't go any faster than a car would so I figure since DD is in the car seat, she is fine. I love my BOB!!

You can't run as fast as a car???  Geezzzzzz slow poke.

  • I wanted the BOB,but got the baby trend instead. The longest I have run is 3 miles PP (about 10 miles before baby), and the stroller works great. Our infant car seat snaps into it, but she is big enough to go in the stroller w/out the carseat now.
