I think DD has a UTI- What to do?

She's been grabbing her diaper and saying her butt hurts when she makes pee pee. I've tried getting her to sit on the potty so I can get a urine sample but she has never made anything in it before. I will call the Dr in the morning but how else can they diagnose without a urine sample?

before Rylee could pee in the potty i took her to the doctor to see if she had a UTI they taped this plastic bag to her so when she peed it went into that.

Claire had a UTI in January.  It SUCKS.  They tried taping the bag to her, but she wouldn't go, so they had to use a catheter.  When it turned out that she DID have a UTI, we had to take her to get an ultrasound and x-ray of her bladder.  The reason for that is that she wasn't potty trained yet and they were concerned there was something wrong with her plumbing.

 Take her to the doctor.  They'll give you ways to avoid them in the future; don't use bubble bath, wash her hair and body last so she's not sitting in the water with soap in it.

The doc has ways of getting samples.  My DD is 3 and potty trained but has been fighting UTI's for a few weeks now.  She was on a round of meds that cleared it up but I think its back and we are heading back to the peds in a few hours.  Good luck!  Make sure you are not doing bubble baths and watch the soap/shampoo that gets into her bath.
