Oxyclean-PLEASE HELP

Ok I have a few of DD clothes that had some stains.  SO I srubbed them with Oxyclean and put in the sun in hopes of bleaching them out.  (the areas were white and they were small)  I thought worst case the stains do not come out.

NO they turned f***ing yellow.  How about a big WTF.  I would not be so pissed if one of the dress was not Ralph Lauren.

Any thought on how I can get the yellow out.  I hope there is something I can do.

TIA

Re: Oxyclean-PLEASE HELP

  • I have been using oxyclean for years since it first came out and it has never turned anything yellow.

Although I have never let anything dry in the sun. I wonder if that could be it? (I dry everything in our house in the dryer...)

  • I have never had that happen. Maybe because you put it in the sun?
  • I think it was probably a combo of the oxyclean and sun... I'd try the oxyclean again w/out putting it in the sun. Might work, might not. GL!
  • I don't let stuff dry in the sun but I LOVE Oxi-Clean.  This is what I do:

Spray stains with Spray & Wash with Resolve power.  While that sets I fill up the sink with hot water and pour in Oxi-Clean (amt depends on number of clothes I am soaking).  I put the clothes in and swish them around a couple of times and let them soak for a couple of hours (I follow the soaking instructions).  Once done soaking, I rinse the clothes out and wash everything on cold.  When the washer is done, I look at the clothes to see if the stains came out and the only time they haven't is when I am dealing with hand-me-down clothes that have stains from God knows when (and even then the stain didn't come out of 1 shirt).  HTH

  • Oxi-clean is basically a powdered hydrogen peroxide.
