Help: Enfamil multivitamin drops STINK!

DS's pedi recommended we start giving him a multivitamin supplement.  I bought some Enfamil Poly-Vi-Sol drops, and it STINKS to high heaven!  It also tastes terrible, and he absolutely will not choke it down.  Not only that, it is brown and looks like iodine all over his clothes when he spits it out.  Anybody know of any dye-free multivitamin drops that don't smell and taste yucky?

I HAVE CHILDREN.

  • I simply stopped giving it.  So sue me.  They were so gross!  They stunk up her whole room and stained her clothes.  Yucky.  She now has some formula in her diet, too, so I think it's ok.  She also gets at least 20 minutes of sunlight most days, which my pedi said provides sufficient vitamin D.

  • The twins I used to nanny for had to have the fluride drops, and those were iodine like and yucky, but their Pedi said to put them in their bottles and they had no problem with them.
  • We absolutely could not get DS to choke down the poly-vi-sol, but we can get him to eat the tri-vi-sol.  I would look for that one - it still has the Vitamin D that BF fed babies need.  It's also by Enfamil

    Good Luck!!

  • We put them in his bottle, they do stain though.

Ok, now I don't feel so bad.  I stopped giving DD her vitamins too...for the same reason.  She would spit it up immediately.  It just seemed too much trouble and I was already giving her medicine for her reflux and gas drops...it seemed I was always shoving something down her throat!  I read that infants only need 4 minutes of sunlight a day to get their vitamin D.  I make sure DD gets that much...just a walk down the driveway to get the mail gets the job done!

  • I HIGHLY recommend Carlson Baby vitamin D drops. ?All you need to do is give one drop to fulfill the daily vitamin D requirements instead of a dropper full. ?It also doesn't have the fillers (caramel coloring, sugar) that the multivitamin has. ?All I do is put a drop on my boob or pacifier and let DS suck.?
  • Target sells a store brand that is a little bit better than the enfamil ones.  As far as the staining, we give it to DD while she is in her bath so she doesn't stain her clothes.  She loves her bath, so I think she takes the vitamins a little easier while she's in there.
