how much is too much...re: diarrhea?

Michelle has diarrhea pretty bad...yesterday it was 3 times....today she's gone 4 times. Its so bad that I'm having to put diapers on her.  She is still running a low grade temp.  Pedi told us to give her pedialyte which we are giving her but she is starting to refuse it.  But I wonder how many episodes is too many and would you call the pedi back if she's having too many?

Forgive my ignorance but this is the first time she's ever had this kind of thing.

Re: how much is too much...re: diarrhea?

  • My DD had bloody diarrhea and we took her in to the pedi on friday a few weeks ago at closing time, and he said no dairy for the whole weekend, put her on pedialyte and the pedialyte pops. She did brat diet for Saturday and Sunday she didn't eat on Friday because she fell asleep. By Monday she could have regular food but introduce the dairy slowly. Even a waffle gave her diarrhea and it had nothing on it. She had no more diarrhea by Monday night and we went back to the pedi on Wed for a check up. I'm not totally sure but I think 3 days calls for a pedi visit if the diarrhea is continuing. We even had to send stool samples to the lab to check for a virus and parasites. They didn't find anything so he figured it was stomach flu even though she had no other symptoms and was acting normal. Hope you DD gets well soon, I know this is stressful.
