what's the average size of a Crib???

I have a hand-me-down, no thrills, basic white crib with a drawer underneath (it's disassembled and at my mom's) and I think the measurements are 27.25 x 50.75 for the mattress. 

trying to guage how much more space i would need for the frame.  I didn't know they were that big.

The dimensions of our crib are 55"W x 34 "D x 48 "H.  I think that's pretty standard.
