Working Moms

****DG1****

I have the same issue.  DD has been biten 3x in the last week by the same biter.  I went in to speak with the director and owner today.  I was fed up and while I realize it is "age appropriate" to bite, it creates an unsafe learning environment for my DD and the other kids in the room.

They are putting an additional teacher in the room to watch the biter 1 on 1 all day long.  This kid bites at home and the parents don't seem to concerned about helping to fix the issue.  If the 1 on 1 does not work and he still continues to bite, they will make the decision to remove him from the center.  Luckily he has not broken the skin yet.

I'd suggest talking to your director and offering up possible suggestions to rememdy the situation if the director does not have one.  Biting is serious business and as bad as it seems, children can get serious infections from the biter.

    Thanks.

I am planning to go talk to the director today.  I guess I just figured she'd retell me the policy (duh) and I'd end up looking like the annoying parent.  My mom is lead teacher at an elementary school and gave me some good advice about what to say/what not to say to express my concerns without inflaming anyone.

I think it's fair to expect a note about a bite to be a surprise rather than something I dread the possibilitly of every day.
