Adoption

We may be going in a different direction

We are going to our first CPS information class to see if this is a direction we may want to go.  After our last meeting with the agency I have lost all faith that they will come through for us and we are meeting with an attorney to see if we have any legal stands to get at least our approval fees back now that they don't consider us agency approved any longer.  I know that several of you are going through the foster to adoption route.  If you live in TX could you give me some idea of the process for this state.  I am hoping this might be the way that we grow our family.  Wish us luck!

  • May I ask what happened? Did they mislead you?

  • I'm sorry that your last meeting with your agency didn't go as planned. If you didn't mind me asking why did you lose faith in them?

    When is your information class?

I'm sorry, I'm in MIssouri, I can't be much help with state specific information!

  • I am so sorry... i know you have been having so many ups and downs.

Is it possible that if you can get your $ back to switch to an agency that might be willing to work with your current situation? Even if it is out of state?

  • We originally signed up with the agency last Aug.  At that time we were matched within two weeks which was shocking.  They fast tracked us through the system and we gave them their scheduled payment fees which included matching fees.  When that match fell through they asked if we would like to transfer our matching fees to my SIL and her husband.  (money for adoptions are coming from the same source for both familes)  We agreed and moved on.  When we moved in Feb they led us to believe that all they would have to do was come and reevaluate our home to update the homestudy.  Instead they started all over like we were just signing up.  Our situation has changed some but we have been in constant contact with the agency and made sure that each change was ok, for example my dh is unemployed at the moment but our finances well meet our budget each month: checked with the agency and they said as long as we could show that which we did they would agree to it.  We had a meeting a few weeks ago with them to update everything.  At that time they decided that we were no longer agency approved even after paying the fees and meeting every requirement they asked.  Their requirements even state that they prefer that one parent is a stay at home or only works 20 hr outside the home.  Anyway I could go on but I think that sums it up.  We don't want to walk away and leave the money on the table but if it comes to that we may have to.

  • AW........I am so sorry for you. Did you make the point in that they prefer one person to be home? I am sure you did. I would make them tell my in writing what the problem was and see what happens.
  • Kristie, you can without a doubt email me or PM me. I know all about Texas! :)
