DS decided this weekend that he is interested in using the toilet. He has been going several times a day since (but definitely not every time he has to go - maybe half). He's also been asking for his diaper to be off - and crying when I put one on him. I really want to encourage his interest, but I don't want to push him too hard, since he's still so young. I don't think he's really quite ready for FT potty training.
I asked a little on my local board and a lot of
ladies recommended completely skipping pullups and going straight to
cloth training pants, but I'm not sure he's ready for that. Plus, he
just started in a new daycare and I think it will be a while before
he's comfortable enough there to ask them about the potty. It's all so
new, he's really distracted with getting settled in.
Re: XP: potty training questions
Go for it!!! In most countries of the world kids are PT by 18 months at the latest. Even in our *own* countries kids were PT by 18 months only a few decades ago. But due to some fine marketing, that's gone by the wayside.
What have you got to lose? Let him go diaper free. Let him pick out some fun undies. Pull ups are another fine marketing ploy. Don't worry about daycare yet... see what happens at home, then take the next step.
FWIW, DD has been completely out of diapers and accident free day and night for months now. She was wearing panties for several hours a day at 7 months.
Ditto this!!!!
We put Braelyn in big girl undies when she woke up Monday morning (last Monday). She had 1 accident on M/T/W and then has stayed dry since then. She wears a diaper to bed still bc she is in a crib still, but hoping next week to change that. Every day(well not Monday) we went out and just made our trips really short, like 30 minutes. The first time we went out I did put a pull up over her undies just incase but she stayed dry, so I dont do that anymore.
