I looked into it quite some time ago. (I have a degree in anatomy so it would have been a quick 1 year post grad thing to get a decent paying job with nice hours in a nice environment.)
Here's a local program. Undergoing review as you can see.
What kind of info are you looking for? I thought about doing that to at one point. I start nursing school Monday. When I decided to go back to school, I was trying to decide between nursing and ultrasound tech.
It's a 2 year program at most schools around here. I think the average salary is around $40-$50k in our state. I think the technical term that some schools may use is Diagnostic Medical Sonographer.
....Ugh. I tried looking for schools for you, but according to most of the searches, the only program in our state in at Virginia College in Birmingham. Bummer. You aren't in B'ham, are you? For some reason I thought you said you were in the Auburn/Opelika area, right?
what info do you want, it's a 2 year degree, if there isn't a waitlist... waitlist here is 1-2 years so it could end up being a 4 year degree if you do generals while waiting... I rather enjoy it, I also chose to get the vascular certificate as well
Sorry I was MIA. Yeah I am in AUBURN and with a 2 year old I can t do B ham. there are some schools in Columbus GA that are not tooo far. But I would like to know how hard of a time will I have finding a job if I do this?
And I am not too motivated but I hve got to do something. Just wondering do Ultrasound techs travel? Or stay in one office?
it depends a little, our clinic is attached to the hospital so we'd stay there... but if the clinic and hospital are seperate you could potentially bounce between the 2... which isn't common... We're opening another $43 million hospital so jobs here aren't hard to come by... but sometimes (in certain places) it's hard to find a full time position.
