Will your/Do your cribs match? (clicky poll)

I was just thinking about how I know we are not going to have cribs that match. I have DS's crib that we will be using, but it is a few years old and we got it from a family friend. I guess I can't justify spending a bunch of money on 2 new cribs when we have a perfectly good one already! TIA

  • you could sell and buy two matching ones. I was lucky and told a friend I wanted this particular PB crib and her friend had two sitting in her attic. Sometimes things just work out. Maybe CList has your crib for sale.
  • Our cribs DO match, but my twins are my first babies. If had a singleton first and had a perfectly good crib handy, I would definitely be getting just one additional crib. I would try to match the wood of the first crib as much as possible, though.

  • You know, it doesn't really matter. I wuoldn't try to match the wood, as that might prove impossible. Instead, I'd contrast them. Like, if one crib is cherry, I'd do one in white. Or something like that. Then you can coordinate decor to go with both colors. It'll look like you did it on purpose!

We'll have matching cribs, but basically b/c I'm not in a rush to get my DS out of his. For all I care, he can stay there until he's in high school (j/k). But also b/c his is pretty big and the room we have for the twins is small-ish. Bigger than DS's room, but too small to fit 2 cribs like his. So, we're getting 2 smaller cribs for the twins and they'll just happen to match b/c we're getting 2 anyhow.

  • Ours match, but they are our first babies.  I would do what PP suggested if I already had a crib and just try really hard to match the color, and try to pick one with a similar style.  You could always sell your first one and get two that match if it's that important to you.
  • Ours match only because we had to buy two and we were having two girls.  If we'd already had one crib, then we would not have matching cribs.
  • Ours match only because these are our first two babies.  If I already had a crib, Id try to find one similar but I wouldnt be all too worried about matching

  • Ours match but these are our first babies.  We got white ones beacuse we figured it would be earier to match and we are using a dresser and a bookcase we already had and just painting them white.  With wood I felt like I would go crazy trying to make sure it matched and didn't want to buy all new stuff with two babies!  Don't go crazy, use the crib you already have, I would.  GL!
  • We went with two inexpensive ones (graco lauren), but if I had had a crib already I wouldn't hesitate to buy a non-matching one. The cribs don't match the dresser in the nursery.

  • Ours will because DS is still using his as a crib, even if he wasn't, we're converting it into a full bed when he's ready for that.  Since I need 2 cribs anyway, they'll match.  I've been scouring CL, but nobody on there sells 2 cribs, and I've not seen 2 alike other than Jenny Lind cribs (not that I'm opposed, but would like sleigh style crib).
  • my older son is still in his crib - he sleeps so well in it and since i wanted matching cribs for the twins- we kept Griffin in his crib- saw no reason to rock the boat any more than it was with 2 new babies coming home and changing his world.

we got 2 new Ikea cribs- so we didn't spend much at all.... and Griffin still sleeps awesome in his crib - no plans to take him out until he starts to climb out or he asks for a big boy bed.

  • Our cribs match but our bedding will not.. we're doing breathable bumpers and striped crib skirts in different colors. ?These are our first babies and we had no prior furniture though.

We definitely wanted two that matched to make their room look consistent, now and when we use them as toddler beds.?

This plus how long do you plan on using cribs? I know that at some point the girls will be getting big girl beds(our cribs dont convert) so they may end up with non matching sets in the long term because that is what they prefer.

  • We already had a crib that was 5 yrs. old that our 1st and 2nd born used.  We just looked at the same maker of the older crib (Jardine) and found one that looks very much like the one we already had.  Being the same maker we found 1 with the same  wood and a lot of the same shape and curves the older has.   I actually like it better than 2 exact cribs gives the room more character and I am having boy/girl twins so I am glad they are not exactly the same ( they do have a neutral bedding that is the same ).

So look into the maker of the crib and I bet you will find one that will complement the one you already have perfectly!

  • Our cribs are close to the same color but they do not match.  I had a good friend give me her son's crib because she wanted a new one. It's not even 1 1/2 years old. So i got her crib and then bought another one that is the same wood but a different crib.  I like it this way.

     Good luck

  • Our cribs will match since this is my first pregnancy.  They probably wouldn't match if I had already had one.
  • I would prefer matching cribs (and convertible ones none-the-less) but supposedly my BIL is going to give us my niece's crib & changing station.  The kicker?  Niece is still sleeping in said crib...so we'll see (and hopefully sooner rather then later)
  • My cribs match...but these are my first babies.  If I had already owned 1 crib, I would have bought another either similar or totally different (depending on whatever look I was going for) to save the money!
