I'm in shock. Little boy due Oct. 17th. Meeting EM on Monday - she's half my age! Any suggestions on questions, topics to discuss with her would be greatly appreciated.
Also, meeting EF separately. Was planning on bringing small toke to EM - what about EF?
I'm in shock in a good way. That's all I can express about how I'm feeling. OMG!!!
Re: We've been matched!!!
First, congratulations on being matched!!!
The EM who picked us is younger, too. We went with a bunch of ideas of what to talk about but really didn't get to ask everything. We just kind of went with the flow of the conversation.
You could ask her about how she is feeling/doing. If the EF is there, maybe you could ask her how they met. You could ask about school, favorite things in school, hobbies, music, etc. You could talk to them about if they want a semi-open or open adoption and what that means to them. You could ask other questions about them - where they grew up, what they want to do in the future, etc.
We brought cookies. We also brought a photo album of pictures to give to her. (I also brought a few small art supplies because she likes art.)
Good luck - I'm so excited for you!
Congrats!!! I don't think shock wears off for awhile! How exciting.
As other said - go with the flow of conversation and if there is a dead moment then you might ask a question about her and her life. She'll most likely be just as nervous.
Try to remember everything and write it down afterwards (everything from your impressions of the BM - any thing that stands out (her scent, what kind of smile she has, etc) as well as any information she shares with you). I think this information will be highly important to your son later.
I would just give something small and home made. I don't know if you are a baker but I saw a recipe today on Giada with heart shaped scones: https://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/giada-de-laurentiis/strawberry-and-rosemary-scones-recipe/index.html
