From infant room to toddler room question

I will be going next week but I wanted to know about naps. Dd will start the one's room when she returns to day care in 3 weeks(off for summer with me) What should i expect when it comes to naps. I know they have cute cots. Do they have the kids nap once a day because dd usually naps twice a day? thanks

Re: From infant room to toddler room question

  • depends on the daycare. Mine also does one nap in the 1year old room. Which is sufficient I think, at one, they don't really need 2 naps anymore. although its nice when you're home with them and need that break!  The kids always go down after lunch, and are allowed to sleep as long as they want. DD is in the 2 year old room now, and thats her schedule there as well, but if the kids get tired throughout the day, there is a little nap area they can go lay down in if they want. There are always kids passed out over there!!

  • At ours they do one nap a day, right after lunch, on a cot.

  • My daughter is going back to daycare soon too and will now be in the toddler room... one nap a day after lunch on cots.  I just can't picture it happening...but they say the kids do fine.  I just picture her getting up and not laying there to sleep.  I am also nervous about the 1 nap a day because she is usually so tired when I put her down for her morning nap...and last weekend she skipped it for an event and was miserable...

  • Ours does one nap a day on mats on the floor right after lunch.  I have no idea how they get him to sleep on the floor, but they do and he sleeps great.  I asked his teacher how she gets him to lay down and sleep and she says if he's sitting up, she just tells him to lay down, it's time to nap.  And he does.  It's like magic!

  • At our daycare, the 1 year old room naps all together around noon after lunch. They lights are off, they are on cots and they play soft music. DD naps SO much better in the 1 year old room. We had SO much trouble getting her to nap with infants b/c of the light and constant action/noise in there.
