Adoption

1st homestudy meeting complete

I just wanted to provide a quick update.

DH and I had an administrative meeting with our agency last week.  The meeting counted as our first homestudy meeting. The agency director asked us some questions about our decision to adopt, reviewed the contract and the process, and had us fill out a questionnaire.  She also gave us a binder with all of the paperwork and documents we need to collect.  Now the onus is on us. We need to fill out all of the paperwork and get the documents in order.  We also have to write our autobiographies.  I can't believe how many autobiographical questions there are either! Once all of that is complete, we will be assigned a SW and begin the remaining four HS interviews.

I'm sure I will have questions as we go through this.  The process is a little overwhelming, but we are very excited at the same time.  Let the fun begin!

  • That's great!

We were a little overwhelmed as well. We had a LOT of questions for our autobiographies. Our best advice was from our SW who told us to tackle it bit by bit. It worked great for DH. That and having a set end date that we wanted it all done.

    Keep us posted!

  • Yay!!! We just sent in our pre-application so we aren't to that point yet but hopefully will be soon. Please keep us updated on your progress.

  • Congrats! That's exciting.  We have our final one tomorrow at our house. I'm freaking out. The autobiography was completely overwhelming to me until I started typing, it got much easier as I went.  You'll do great.
