TTC after 35

IUI #2 done

Well, now I'm in the 2ww.  We'll see if I can be a little more laid back this cycle than last.  Yeah right!

We'll see if it works--he had a bit of a difficult time getting the catheter in so I guess my cervix is still just as tight as ever even after getting our big boy shoved out of it.

I asked him if this cycle doesn't work what our next step is.  He said he usually does 3 IUIs but since I'm older he would like to do IVF instead.  I went ahead and asked them for their information packet on IVF because I don't know much, just general concept, so if any of you ladies who've been through IVF want to inform me of what I may be headed towards I'd be happy to learn.

Good luck DNA, I hope this is it for you, and hope your 2ww ?passes quickly!

The IVF may be very similar to your IUIs with monitoring and meds, if you did injectables. The only difference is the embryo retrieval, and transfer. There are a few different IVF protocols, based on age/hormone levels/prior response to meds. For me--older with diminished reserve, poor responder and high FSH, I did the micro-flare with estrogen priming protocol. The concept of this protocol is get a lower number of higher quality eggs. My cycle began the month before the IVF cycle for estrogen priming, RE would confirm O and I would start estrace for 2 weeks. Once I got AF, I would go in for CD2 b/w and u/s. If levels are good, I'd start injectables. I would go in for monitoring every 3 days, then 2 days, than every day as my follies got bigger. I'm a slow responder so I usually stim for 13 days. Once you trigger, your retrieval will be 36 hours after. DH will give his sample while you are getting prepped for retrieval. In recovery, RE will tell you the number of eggs retrieved. The next morning they will call you to tell you how many fertilized, and how they are looking. Transfer will be a 3-day or 5-day depending on numbers fertilized, quality and RE preference. After transfer, I started progesterone injections in my butt during the 2ww. I know this is a quick run through so I'd be happy to help with any specific questions.
