I just schedule my first appointment and they don't see you until the 10th week. Does that seem a bit late? I like the practice - small group of midwives - but I'm wondering if I should be concerned. This is my first so I'm not sure what to expect. Am I worring about nothing? TIA!

Re: Timing of first appointment
I think it totally depends on the office. I've heard a lot of them will wait until 8-10 weeks, so it's not that unusual, even if you're an older mom. I think if you've had previous problems, they might see you sooner.
I have to brag.. I love my OB's office! They specialize in higher risk pregnancies anyway. There are only two doctors and they don't "share" patients so I always see the same doctor and nurse combo. Plus, they have one of the best U/S techs in the city. Plus, both my doc and the U/S tech do rotations at the hospital where I'll deliver, so I hopefully will have the same people working my pregnancy from start to finish. I know a lot of women aren't as lucky.
My first was at 9 weeks - my OB doesn't see you before 8 weeks. Although, like some of the other girls, I had an "intro session" where they gathered some health/insurance info, met with the billing person and the nurse to get their "welcome" packet re: preganancy, what their policies are, etc. around 6 weeks
Totally normal for the first appointment to be between week 8 and 12 unless you are being treated for infertility or have a history of loss.
I was seen at 6.5 weeks for an appointment and u/s but was a patient at a recurrent pregnancy loss clinic.
