::faces firing sqaud::
I tried to be responsible prior to posting by researching on my own, but I'd love input from anyone willing - good, bad, indifferent.
I had a light period 2+ months ago. I missed my last period. I've experienced some typical pregnancy symptoms, but each test I've taken has come back negative (I've taken 3). Through research, I've found that in some cases women just don't produce enough hormones to be detected in a HPT test. I plan on going to the doctor this upcoming week to have a blood test done. I'm I just being ridiculous or does this make any sort of sense. I'm confused at this point. I'm having a hard time convincing myself I'm not pregnant when my body is acting this way. Has anyone actually known someone that has encountered this? I'm finding internet "stories", but who knows with those.
Opinions? Flames?
Re: Question?
It happens, but it's very rare. Also it's common to basically make yourself feel pregnancy symptoms when you really want to. If it's been a couple of months, and you're not on BC, go see a doctor. Even if you don't think you're pregnant, 60 days without a period is usually when you want to get checked out to see what's going on. There are so many things that could be the reason for skipping periods, besides pregnancy.
Good luck!
No flames, but just wanted you to know that is normal to skip a period every so often. How long have you been of bc? Have you been charting?
So this would be 8 or 12 weeks since your last " normal" period? A pregnacy test would read positive by now. yes, there are rare cases, but not very often.
I have heard of people never testing positive on an HPT.
No flames here. Seems like you are doing the right thing by calling your doc if you are concerned.
Good Luck.
ETA: like PP said, it's pretty rare not to test positive on an HPT if you are pregnant and it's past when your period is due.
it is very very very rare to be a person that doesnt' test positive on an HPT - but that would be early on... someone who builds up HCG (the pregnancy hormone) super slowly. If you truely "missed" a period - you would be far enough along to definitely have enough HCG to test positive by now. Plus, if you have "symptoms" then you have enough HCG.
You probably didn't miss your period - you most likely had a random LONG cycle. It happens. That would be more plausible than being one of the miniscule few who don't build up HCG fast enough.
