Going out of town for 3 days-need advice

I BF, so obviously I'll have to pump and bring the milk home.  How do I do this exactly?  I'm thinking get those Medela bags that you can attach to your pump and store that milk in a cooler?  Will Southwest let me bring the cooler as a carry-on?  I'm thinking I'll have 48 bags of milk.  I don't want that to go to waste!!

  • If you go to the TSA website it will tell you what you can and cannot take on the plane.  You can even send them an email.  I had to do this when we went to Hawaii and I was still on my progresterone shots and suppositories from my IVF.  They would not allow me to carry on the suppositories which needed to be refrigerated unless I had a need to use it during the flight.  So I had to pack everything in a clear ziplock bag with gel packs to keep cool during the flight.

  • I put milk in storage bags and put that in a small cooler to travel.  I used the lansinoh bags, but any type should be fine.  You can carry them the milk on.  You should probably tell security when you go through, but I never had any issues at all.  I brought a couple of extra ziploc bags and bought a cup of ice from a restaurant past security and used that to keep it cool on the way home because my gel packs usually weren't super cold by then.
