I love them both! Julie is in our top 2 right now (I think we're going to wait until we meet her since we can't decide and Lucie was my G-Grandma's name and in my top list but DH didn't like it.
I do think Julie grows up better though.. Lucie sounds more like a cute little girl name. If I were to use it as a first name, I would use Lucille and Lucie as a nn.

In terms of classic, I'd throw out Lucie. Lucy is the more traditional spelling. But I'd also say for classic that it's a nickname for Lucille or Lucinda, et al. Either name is nice though. I've always liked Juliet.

Lucy is cute, too, but I agree with the others that it is almost too cute and quirky for an adult. I guess it depends on what she wants to be when she grows up. I can picture Lucy as an artist or a designer, but not as a judge or doctor. Maybe that's just based on the Lucys I know.
Julie is my name and I have always liked it. No one misspells it or mispronounces it. I also am usually the only Julie when I go places...it's not overly common.
My name is Julie, so that gets my vote!! ?I love my name. ?It's classic, simple, pretty. ?Growing up, there was only one other Julie in my school and I liked not being confused with 10 other Jennifers or Jessica's. ?(No offense... I love those names, they were just very popular while I was growing up.)
?
I love love love Julia, Juliana or Juliet (which ended up being my SIL's name... but she lives in Paris.)?
I love both names. Juliet and Julie are individual names so I would use just Julie if you plan on calling her Julie. I don't understand why people say Lucy sounds young. I immediately think of the ADULT Lucille (Lucy) Ball. I think of it similarly to Lily. Pretty name and it ages well.
