I only took pain meds while in the hospital so 4 days. I turned down the Oxy they offered me - it did diddly and only went with Tylenol 3s. After I got out, any discomfort, I used regular extra strength tylenol.
I think that NOT using pain meds made my recovery easier. I was up and walking within a few days, doing distance within the week and able to do stairs from the start.
Getting in and out of bed was the worst - that took about two weeks to get back to normal.
I still have sciatic issues though and my knees are shot from the extra weight I had put on - even though I've lost all my pregnancy weight. I am going to go to physio for both next week.?
I'm still taking the ibuprofen. Took the codeine for a little over two weeks but that had a lot to do with the very painful bladder infection i got post-op.

I stopped taking them every few hours right after I got home from the hospital. I would take them prior to my "painful" times of day or if I was sore or going out. I stopped totally a week after coming home.

I never took meds- i had c/s on tuesday & got hone saturday. I was able to go up and down the stairs that day, but it was slow. I slept in a recliner for 2 nights b/c laying flat hurt. i would say that it took about a week and a half to be "fine" but i am almost a month pp now and the incision is still somewhat tender...doesnt hurt, just tender.
I stopped taking the Percoset (sp?) while in the hospital. I just used extra strength Tylenol. Had my c/s Monday, I went home Wednesday evening (my choice - I could have stayed until Thursday). It was really difficult to get out of bed from a lying-down position, but that was the hardest thing. I didn't mind the steps. The best thing to do is get up and moving as soon as you can after the c/s. I had my c/s around noon on Monday and they took out my catheter on Tuesday around 7am. That's when I got up and started moving. It was uncomfortable, but good for me. For me to be totally pain-free, I'd say 3 weeks. However, the incision is still tender.
I only ever took 600 mg motrin. I filled my percoset (sp?) prescription, but never took any. I was totally pain free at about 5 weeks I think. By that I mean I could carry the boys and do regular housework without hurting. I still have some days where I get sore now. I think my muscles are tightening back up and it hurts a little.
After I left the hospital, I took the percocet for a day or two (probably took 4 pills). I took motrin for another couple days. I was totally off all pain meds by about 10 days pp.

I wasn't in much pain even in hospital and only took the motrin. I took it for maybe a week or so after I got home?
