Question about visiting

Hi ladies!  My DH and I will be visiting Indianapolis on the 29th and 30th.  Is there anything going on that weekend that we should try to catch?  Also, do you have any recommendations of places to visit while we're in town?  This is my chance to convince DH that it's time to move, so I want to show him the best parts of the city Smile  We'll be staying at a hotel in Fishers/Carmel, but we'll have a car to come into the city.  Will I need quarters to park downtown?  Thanks for your help again!

Re: Question about visiting

  • Parking at the meters is free downtown on the weekends but if you can't find a meter you'll need a few dollars for the parking garages. I really love just walking around downtown; lots of stores and restaurants to visit. If you looking for a bar, Nicky Blaine's is a really cool cigar bar that's right off of the circle. Besides shopping I'm not really sure what to tell you to see in Fishers/Carmel. :)

  • Downtown Carmel is creating an Arts district and is probably the nicest and most affluent subarb in the area.  The Monon goes through this area so you can walk there and the little area downtown.  There is a fountain and a great burger place called Bubs right off the Monon a tiny bit north of the downtown area.

Zionsville is another northside subarb and is more of a village feel.  Lots of little boutique stores and such.

Keystone at the Crossing is where the Fashion Mall is and some nice restuarants,  It is kind of between Carmel and Fishers.

Broadripple is in on the near north side of Indianapolis and is more of the hip, bar scene area, but is also a village feel during the day.  There are a lot of restuarants and the Monon (walking trail) also goes through this area.

Downtown Indianapolis is really nice.  There is Monument Circle and right off of it is the Circle City Mall.  If you park underneath the mall the parking fees are pretty cheap.  If you go a bit west of the circle on Washington street you will run into Victory Field, a few museums and the zoo.  There is also the canal walk which is really nice and pretty.  A little east of downtown there is the Mass Avenue district which again has more boutique shops and non-chain restuarants, also some bars if thats your thing, just an FYI there are gay/lesbian bars in this area so just wanted you to know that so as to not be suprised.
