T minus 7 days until DD's 2nd bday party-- NEED RECIPES!

LOL;)

I usually buy dips and appetizer stuff, but would rather make it. I love to cook, just don't usually have much time. Ideas?

I usually buy:

artichoke/parmesean dip

salsa (I've tried making this before and ended up having to make pasta sauce... LOL! It was horrible!)

Anything you guys want to share is awesome! Thanks!

  • I've never made either of those before, sorry!

For salsa, which we eat at every party, I go to a Mexican restaurant and buy their fresh salsa. For the chips, I buy fresh-made from Food City (it's a grocery store) or wherever you can find them fresh. 100% better than Tostitos or similar, and better than anything I could ever make!

  • Well, I have an AWESOME recipe for spinach artichoke dip - people flock to it.  Anytime I'm supposed to bring food to a function this is always requested.  Here's a link: https://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/paula-deen/hot-spinach-artichoke-dip-recipe/index.html

I also two more Paula Deen recipes that are always a huge hit and make-ahead-able!  https://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/paula-deen/sensational-shrimp-mold-recipe/index.html

  • Had THIS at Nephews birthday - it was a HIT!  Gone in 5 minutes!  Girl put chicken with hot sauce on bottom of glass baking dish and then melted the cream cheese and dressing together and poured over the chicken.  Then she topped with cheese and baked.  AWESOME!

  • My MIL makes the best salsa.  For red salsa, she boils red tomatoes and a couple of green tomatoes with jalepeno peppers in water, add salt and boil until they are soft, put in blender with the juice and cilantro and maybe more salt for taste.  For green salsa add only green tomatoes with jalepenos and follow the same steps as the red salsa.

To bad you don't live closer, I can have her make it for you. Let me know if you want her to, I can meet you have way. :)

God, that's very sweet;) Honestly, once I told DH I posted this, he was like, "I'll do it!" He loves cooking and loves a challenge LOL! Hopefully, his salsa turns out okay. Otherwise, our poor guests.Embarrassed

I am keeping your MIL's recipe on-hand, though! Thanks!

I second this!!! I always make this for DH's family gatherings and get tons of compliments and its gone within minutes! I cook in in the oven in a 9x13  pan.
