Not even 3 yet, but the backtalking has started :-( Anyone else?

He is sooo sooo sassy lately with major attitude. His favorite thing right now is tell me that he is going to "kick my butt". He takes the dog toys and won't let the dog have them, he backtalks and says no to a lot of things. I see myself getting very frustrated and stern with him at times and I hate to be that way. He used to be such a good kid..... sigh.......

  • ahhhh the WTF 3's have struck your house lol   I usually end up say "excuse me"  and sometimes she stops other times she screams bloody murder and gets worst....thats when I put her in her room.

I'm not really enjoying this stage at all!

  • Oh yes... I thought it was just us.  I see it worse when he's around other children and pick up their 'lines' as well.  He tells me the other day "I slap you mommy" - I nearly fell off the chair.  I'm pretty stearn w/ him and so is DH so hopefully this 'stage' will be short lived... hopefully.  Hang in there.  Kel

  • My son likes time-outs. Sigh.
  • Yeah, my DS loves to say, "I won't do that" to anything.  Me to DS, "we are going to My Gym today, DS to me, "No, I won't go."  I feel the same frusration and get annoyed at myself too.

  • I am in the same boat, DD is backtalking all the time it seems.  To the point where she says whatever and then goes i go to time out now
  • Yeah, DD1 yells at me 'Stop that' and stuff like that. Sometimes she has ap point (I shouldn't yell just like she's not allowed to yell - oops) but it's still not cool. DH and I find that when we hit boiling point we have to switch parent. Like during particularly horrible bathtimes and bedtimes, we do 5 minutes shifts and then switch again LOL. That leaves you 5 minutes to drink 1/2 a beer every 10 minutes LOL. (I am exaggerating but you get my point).
  • Yes ma'am...he's being very sassy/bossy and even bratty at times.  And will be that way to family members he hasn't seen in a long time or even strangers.  It's embarrassing and I tried to always correct him but I realize that a lot of it has to do with his age and he's learning how to act.  I'm already cringing at some of the things he's sure to say at school when they start back next month.  Cringing!
