Is anyone using or planning on using a nanny? If so, how did you go about finding one? Through an agency? Privately? Any recommendations or advice would be great! I have no clue where to start looking.
Thanks!
After 2 rounds of IVF & 2 rounds of FET, we were blessed with identical twin girls!
CL? I don't know if you got that agency name that I sent to you...After looking at it, I saw it was pretty expensive per hour, and if we end up going that route (which at this point we aren't), I'd keep looking around. I'd be open to another SAHM wanting to earn a little $$ on the side too... Good luck!
ETA: If we had the room (and the need), I'd also look into the Au Pair programs for a live-in. I went to school in the DC area, and it was HUGE there (have friends that met/married former Au Pairs). I have the Baby Bargains book and it lists several websites for this that I can send you.

I just now saw your FB message. WTH? You sent it a million years ago! I am so bad about checking inbox messages. Thank you for sending that. Good to know it's expensive.
I have been looking on CL, but even that seems expensive. My CW has a nanny that he pays $500 a week, which is way less than CL ads I have been finding. I'll just keep searching!

Mental note! FB is weird, send direct email! I can send the Au Pair stuff if that's something you'd like to look into. I'm not sure that's something you'd want to do even with more space w/ the move!
I know how hard it must be for you. I will keep my ears and eyes open for you. I live in a tight knit community with families and nannies. I will also put out a call for nannies to all my Photography clients. Are you looking for full or part time?

Thanks! We're probably looking for full-time, although there's a chance the ILs might watch the babies 2 days a week.

I am a SAHW, soon to be SAHM and I would love to pick up some extra $$. What do you think would be the best way to advertise my services?
Hi Shestall! As far as finding a possible nanny work, this seems like a great place to start I am due with our first boy in December and will (unfortunately) have to get back to work 3-6 months after his birth. We'lI only need care for him from 8-2:30 Mon-Thurs when I eventually get back to work and would so rather have him with a SAHM than at a random daycare! Where in SD are you? Perhaps we could chat about this further? Or at least get to know eachother, it looks like we may have a lot in common! If you're interested you could send me a message and I'll send my email/cell. Look forward to hearing from you!
I'm fairly new to the site- have mostly used other pregnancy sites- great to see other SD moms.
My husband and I are working with Cultural Care Au pair agency to bring over an au pair in January. Total cost is about $18k for an entire year (45 hours of work per week). They live-in, so you would provide room and board. There are a number of agencies out there- this is one of the largest. Program fees and cost appear to be pretty standard across all of them because this is a structured program run the by the US State dept as a cultural exchange program.
I like the idea of having someone in my home for my two girls (you pay a flat fee regardless of the number of children, so it's pretty competitive compared to daycare).
Of course the difference is that you give up a little privacy, but it can be a fun experience!
When I used to nanny I worked through an elite nanny organization in north county that was wonderful at back ground checks and only hired out competent, experienced nannies (I was a preschool teacher at the time and have a degree in child development). It was so long ago that I don't know if that particular organization is still around but I know there are many similar ones. If I were to use a nanny I would go through a professional service, there resources are so much greater. The better nannies prefer to work through these companies because it's safer and easier to get to know the families before taking the job. Good luck and congrats on your babies!!

I used to nanny and on greataupair.com you can find local people as well. Thats how my previous family found me. I was with them for almost 3 years. Im looking into nannying again in the near future as a SAHM. I'm located in Vista if any other Bumpies are looking!
I am a SAHM, former NICU RN, and I would be willing to pick up hours as well. I generally only work on Saturdays now in medical aesthetics, so I'm free all week. I also have some friends (we are military) who have done nannying...one I know of for sure just had the mom she was nannying for decide to be a SAHM so she is looking for something else. If anyone needs any help, or would like to use me, or would like her info, please just shoot me a pm. We are both in Coronado.
