i teach and will be going back in 1 week. i am gradually starting to wean, but i would like to continue am and pm (and possibly her late afternoon) feedings for at least another month. my question is, do you wake your lo in the am to feed, or do you pump? when i went back to work from mat leave, it was easy because she was getting up around 5/530 and i leave for work at 615ish. so, i'd feed her then she'd fall back asleep for dh and he'd get her ready for the day before he left her w/my dad at 745. but now she sleeps until 630-700...sometimes later if she has had a rough night of nightwakings. she'll be here w/my dad 2 days/wk and going to my cousins house 3 days/wk. i don't want to get her all out of whack since shes pretty set in this wake schedule and technically she doesn't have to get up until around 715 when dh needs to get ready to go to work....but i'd like that time w/her before work too. i just feel bad waking her up...what are your experiences with waking if you leave your lo w/your dh to take to a sitter. did it make a big difference in lo's mood/naps for the rest of the day? sorry for the longwinded message!!
Re: those who wake lo to bf before work...
I wake DD to eat at 6. But she naturally wakes up between 6-6:30, so I'm not getting her up much earlier.
You could see if putting her to bed earlier gets her to wake earlier.
When she was younger - between 4-6 months, she would go back to sleep after eating. Now she stays up and plays in the bathroom with DH while he gets ready.
I didn't really *wake* my DD per say, but I got her out of the crib, fed her, and then put her back...she was pretty much asleep the whole time. This was always around 6am and she'd sleep another 1-1.5 hrs after that. My husband took her to DC then.
Now, with DS, I have to take him to DC, so I wake him, get him dressed, feed him, and we leave the house by like 6:15. Oh, BTW, he goes to bed at about 7:30 and STTN.
