Pregnant after 35

Glucose test---gah!

Anyone else get a headache and stomach ache after the 1 hour glucose test?   I feel like crap now!   Too much sugar?    I have eaten a little bit since, but still feel very sluggish.

Results in a few days--crossed fingers!

Re: Glucose test---gah!

  • Something similar for me the with my 1st pregnancy - I was worried I was not going to pass & have to take that again (but I passed - all three pregnancies)... & I almost booted on the tech taking my blood ; )  This time I actually am craving sweets.. so I did not mind at all!

  • I just did mine on Monday.  The orange sugar drink was not pleasant.  I felt crappy until the next day since I am not much of a sugar person to begin with.  On the plus side, the technician who took my blood was awesome & I did not feel a thing!
  • Hope you are feeling better today.  I felt fine  after mine, I actually liked the drink they gave me....but I have a BIG sweet tooth!!

  • Hopefully you won't need the 3-hour test! That can be really bad--I thought I was going to faint by the end of it (BOTH times I had to take it!). The really bad thing is that if you throw up before the test is complete, you have to repeat it (or get some kind of blood test which has a high failure rate).
  • Feeling better today, thanks all.   While I LOVE desserts, that sugary kool-aid stuff just never sits well with me.

And gotcha.. I'm hoping for no 3-hour.  Between the 12 hours of fasting and my always-testy stomach, I'm sure I'd probably "boot!"

  • I had to go for the three hour  on Monday and it was not so bad at all. Of course the drink is even sweeter but I did not get sick. It was the waiting for the results. Good news - I passed!
