My little boy had is 6 month check and he was only 16 pounds...i thought he would weigh more (especially based on my home scale which yes isnt as accurate for a baby but i thought it could be a decent benchmark). He gained exactly 2lbs since his 4 month appointment, but a month ago he weighed 15.3 lbs (that was a weight check). He took a huge #2 and hadnt eaten in 3.5 hours so maybe that was why it seemed a little down. he had some sweet potatoes but the formula is what seems to tip the scales. - And in the morning he goes about 5 hours between formula feedings bc he eats so much when he gets up. the dr. wasnt worried but i wonder how there are all of these 18 and 19 pound 6 month olds walking around! my LO wont weigh that until he is 9 months probably. i had to switch to formula feeding at 4.5 months and thought that would help pack it on..guess not although i know that isnt a belief that is totally embraced anyways. (that formula fed babies gain more weight)
Re: Only 16 lbs at 6 months
DD was in the 20% for weight at 6 months - I too felt the same way at 1st but she is healthy & happy.
We started to feed her solids 3x a day & I can tell she has gained a bit - she feels more solid - she is crazy active & the pedi. advised upping her solid intake b/c she was lower in weight & so active.
My LO isn't even close to 18 lbs yet - don't stress!
no...my doctor wasnt worried. she said it's okay. he's just such a good eater i dont understand why it's not more.
my husband and i are also naturally very thin and have crazy metabolisms (i lost my baby weight in 3 weeks and only gained 18 lbs while pregnant). but i've never seen anything like my husband's metabolism...this string bean all the way through high school and he would eat SO MUCH. he would lift all the time and drink these really caloric shakes and he still couldnt really put it on.
DS was 14 lbs. It sounds like your DS is just going to be thin, particularly since you and your DH are thin.
My DS is practically a clone of DH, and DH is a poster child for the stringbean family.
